Not always. A growing number of tour operators offer solo departures or rooms with no single supplement, and we keep track of exactly who they are. Tell us your dates and we will hunt the supplement-free options first.
Some are, some really are not. There are solo travel groups pitched at 30s and 40s, faster adventure departures, and mixed-age tours with a lovely spread. We ask operators the awkward age-mix question so you do not have to.
Some of the best trips we book. Escorted tours, river cruises and safaris are all wonderfully solo-friendly at any age, and there are dedicated over 50s solo departures if you would prefer the group to feel like contemporaries.
